I've seen some surprise about Apple raising prices suddenly. I'm not sure why people are surprised.
For 20 years, I've seen people complain about the upgrade prices. They start you with a minimal machine configuration and you change it and the price is something out of a nightmare when you're finished.
Apple had a moment where they did better and now, that's finished. To me, they have a 30% profit margin and they could suck up the rising prices on RAM and storage. They compromised a bit when they doubled storage from the start and didn't raise the prices. That should have been the way of the world.
The possibility of making a business out of Artificial Intelligence seems artificially intelligent to me. AI is like a 7 year old child. It can mimic the actions of an adult but doesn't have the emotional maturity for consistency. It can be stubborn and act out. Putting money into it right now could help your business but will it help?
In any case, prices on storage and RAM are higher. Eventually, better will happen.
I remember paying over US$1000 for a 32 MB stick of RAM around 1993. I also remember in 1990 buying a Winchester hard drive made by Seagate with around 80 MB for US$489.
Prices will be okay again some day, just not today. I'm just sad that Apple won't cut into its profit margin and take the hit for their customers. I would imagine that they're killing off some purchases.
